The investigation focuses on whether the timing chain tensioner systems in the affected vehicles (below) are prone to premature failure, which can lead to an inability to accelerate or maintain speed, damage to the timing chain and other engine parts, and/or catastrophic engine failure.
The timing chain tensioner issue potentially affects all Volkswagen/Audi vehicles equipped with a 2.0-Liter TSI or 2.0-Liter TSFI engines.
