Force Placed Automobile Insurance
Kessler Topaz Meltzer & Check, LLP (“Kessler Topaz”) is investigating potential class action lawsuits against certain auto lenders on behalf of loan customers who may have been charged for automobile insurance they did not want or need.
Kessler Topaz’s Investigation
On August 14, 2017, Kessler Topaz filed an initial complaint against Wells Fargo alleging that the company engaged in a fraudulent scheme of duping hundreds of thousands of auto loan customers into paying for unnecessary and unwanted auto insurance and additional fees and charges. Kessler Topaz is investigating whether other lenders engaged in similar conduct by charging borrowers with lender-placed or “force-placed” automobile insurance policies, often referred to as “collateral protection insurance.”
Specifically, Kessler Topaz is investigating whether certain banks, including but not limited to the following, forced borrowers to purchase unwanted or unnecessary auto insurance:
| • | Capital One Financial Corp. |
| • | Santander Consumer USA Holdings Inc. |
| • | U.S. Bancorp |
If you financed the purchase of your vehicle and you were charged for unnecessary or unwanted auto insurance, and would like to learn more about our investigation, please fill out our online form, or contact us today at 888-299-7706 or by email at [email protected].
