Volkswagen and Audi Timing Chain Class Action 2020

Kessler Topaz Meltzer & Check, LLP ("Kessler Topaz") is litigating a class action lawsuit against Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (“Volkswagen”) and Audi of America, Inc. (“Audi”) related to potentially faulty and defective timing chain systems.  The case is captioned Opheim, et al. v. Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft, et al., Case No. 2:20-cv-02483 (D. N.J.).

The class action complaint is brought on behalf of owners or lessees of certain Volkswagen or Audi vehicles (2013-2019). The complaint alleges that certain model vehicles have defective timing chain systems. In addition to safety risks, defective timing chain systems can potentially cause a loss in the ability to accelerate, maintain speed, and/or adequately control the steering wheel or fully engage the brakes.
