The settlement of this federal securities fraud class action lawsuit is on behalf of investors who purchased or otherwise acquired Waste Management, Inc. (“WMI”) (NYSE: WM) redeemable senior notes between February 13, 2020 and June 23, 2020, inclusive (the “Class Period”). 

WMI agreed to pay $30,000,000 to resolve this class action lawsuit alleging the company and certain of its officers and/or directors violated federal securities laws by making false or misleading statements.

What’s the status of the Settlement? 
On December 18, 2025, the Court granted Final Approval of the Class Action Settlement. This action has concluded.

Who can file a claim?
The settlement class includes all persons or entities who, during the Class Period:

  • Purchased or otherwise acquired 2.95% Senior Notes due 2024 (CUSIP 94106LBF5); 
  • Acquired 3.20% Senior Notes due 2026 (CUSIP 94106LBH1); 
  • Acquired 3.45% Senior Notes due 2029 (CUSIP 94106LBG3); and/or 
  • Acquired 4.00% Senior Notes due 2039 (CUSIP 94106LBJ7).


How much is the Settlement Payment?
Pro rata payment: The total settlement fund is $30,000,000. The amount each class member receives will depend on several factors, including:

  • The number of valid claims submitted
  • The number of shares purchased and sold
  • The dates of purchase and sale
  • The price paid for the shares and the price received upon sale
