Kessler Topaz is investigating a potential class action concerning certain Ford Motor Company ("Ford") and Lincoln Motor Company ("Lincoln") vehicles. Specifically, our investigation concerns reports of potential defects in certain Ford Expedition (2021) and Lincoln Navigator (2021) vehicles, in which vehicle engines can catch fire while parked or while driving. Ford has issued warnings to owners to park their vehicles outside and away from anything that can burn after an internal investigation in March found eight engine compartment fires and a report of a melted battery junction box in 2021 Ford Expeditions. Six of the fires originated on the passenger-side rear engine compartment area, but the automaker could not determine the locations of the other two fires.
On May 19, 2022, Ford disclosed that fourteen of these incidents occurred on vehicles owned by rental companies (across multiple locations) and two were retail customer vehicles. Of the 16 incidents, 12 reportedly occurred while the vehicle was parked and off, one reportedly while the vehicle was parked and on, and three reportedly while the vehicle was in motion.
If you, or someone you know, purchased or leased a 2021 Ford Expedition or 2021 Lincoln Navigator, and would like further information about our investigation, please fill out our online form below, or contact us today at 888-299-7706 or by email at info@ktmc.com.
