Job Description
Kessler Topaz Meltzer & Check, LLP—a progressive, complex litigation Firm with offices in Radnor, PA and San Francisco, CA— seeks a Paralegal who will work with a collegial, sophisticated and hard-working group of Attorneys in all facets of litigation. Candidate must have at least a paralegal certificate and 5+ yrs. of paralegal experience for consideration.
Responsibilities:
• Interface with attorneys, legal assistants and other counsel.
• Perform investigative Internet research
• Assist in the preparation and filing of documents including, but not limited to, court pleadings and legal correspondence
• Assist with trial preparation, as necessary
• Draft legal documents and correspondence, and review and check all documents for accuracy and compliance with court rules
• Conduct Bluebooking, fact and cite checking, editing and proof-reading
• Complete discreet research assignments using LEXIS and/or Westlaw
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree (experience will be considered in lieu of education)
- Paralegal Certificate or Certified through NALA or NFPA
- Minimum of 5 years of paralegal level work required
- Attention to detail, a great attitude, and a hard work ethic are a must
- Must be a self-starter
- Excellent writing and communication skills required
- Ability to prioritize and work under a tight schedule required
- Must be detail-oriented
- Must be available for overtime
- Knowledge of court rules and deadlines a plus but not required
- Proficiency in or advanced knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook required
- Must be able to handle confidential and highly sensitive matters in a consistently discreet and professional manner
- Experience with legal database software like PACER, the Federal Court filing system, LEXIS and/or Westlaw preferred
- Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Relativity and Document Review experience preferred
- Complex or intensive litigation experience preferred
