Job Description

KTMC seeks a Claims Analyst. The Claims Analyst is responsible for preparing securities class action settlement claims by analyzing and formatting institutional client securities transactions and holdings data, submitting prepared claims to external claims administrators, and tracking the status of the claim through a determination of payment. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret securities class action settlement notices and claim forms to understand claim eligibility and data requirements
  • Perform securities research and database queries to identify clients’ investment transactions and holdings relevant for preparing claims
  • Analyze clients’ transactions and/or holdings to determine universe of claimants that meet the parameters to file claims
  • Reconcile clients’ transactions against periodic holdings to confirm claims data or identify inconsistencies/deficiencies in transactions records
  • Research, resolve, and/or escalate inconsistencies/deficiencies in transaction records
  • Prepare and submit claim forms in paper and/or electronic format
  • Monitor and review correspondence received from claims administrators to identify key information, action items and response deadlines; record details in centralized spreadsheet and/or database.
  • Respond to claims administrators via email in accordance with processes for obtaining claim status and curing claim deficiencies; track claim status through distribution of payment.
  • Organize and maintain relevant correspondence in document management system.
  • Audit claims filed by third parties; coordinate with third party filers to obtain claim information and to resolve discrepancies; review universe of filed claims for completeness and accuracy
  • Identify and suggest opportunities to improve claims identification and preparation process
  • Meet with manager and/or peers as necessary to discuss issues and resolutions

Qualifications

  • Education Requirements:  Bachelor’s degree required, previous relevant experience considered in lieu of a degree
  • Option to work remotely
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience preferred
  • An understanding of securities investments (stocks, bonds, options) and securities portfolio statements preferred
  • Must have strong analytical and basic math skills
  • Must have a strong work ethic, be a team player, and be detail oriented.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed with little to no advance notice.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Desire and ability to learn and adapt to a wide variety of software (internal) applications

Job Description

KTMC seeks a Paralegal who will work with a busy group of Attorneys in all facets of litigation. Candidate must have at least a paralegal certificate and 5+ yrs. of paralegal experience for consideration.  

Responsibilities:

• Interface with attorneys, legal assistants and other counsel.

• Perform investigative Internet research

• Assist in the preparation and filing of documents including, but not limited to, court pleadings and legal correspondence

• Assist with trial preparation, as necessary

• Draft legal documents and correspondence, and review and check all documents for accuracy and compliance with court rules

• Conduct Bluebooking, fact and cite checking, editing and proof-reading

• Complete discreet research assignments using LEXIS and/or Westlaw

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (experience will be considered in lieu of education)
  • Paralegal Certificate or Certified through NALA or NFPA
  • Minimum of 5 years of paralegal level work required
  • Attention to detail, a great attitude, and a hard work ethic are a must
  • Must be a self-starter
  • Excellent writing and communication skills required
  • Ability to prioritize and work under a tight schedule required
  • Must be detail-oriented
  • Must be available for overtime
  • Knowledge of court rules and deadlines a plus but not required
  • Proficiency in or advanced knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook required
  • Must be able to handle confidential and highly sensitive matters in a consistently discreet and professional manner
  • Experience with legal database software like PACER, the Federal Court filing system, LEXIS and/or Westlaw preferred
  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Relativity and Document Review experience preferred
  • Complex or intensive litigation experience preferred
