Kessler Topaz Meltzer & Check, LLP Investigates Potential Class Action Against Toyota Concerning Engine Fires In RAV4 Vehicles (2013-2018)
Kessler Topaz Meltzer & Check, LLP (“Kessler Topaz”) is investigating a potential class action lawsuit against Toyota Motor Corporation (“Toyota”), following the announcement that The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (“NHTSA”) has opened an investigation into 2013–2018 RAV4s.
Kessler Topaz’s Investigation
NHTSA has received 11 fire complaints over the last year regarding RAV4 engine fires. According to NHTSA, the majority of the fires originated from the RAV4s’ 12-volt batteries, coming from the left side of the engines. A terminal on the 12-volt battery may short to the frame, according to NHTSA documents, resulting in "the sudden loss of electrical power, vehicle stalling, and/or a fire originating in the engine compartment."
