Kessler Topaz Meltzer & Check, LLP Investigates Potential Data Breach Claims against Yahoo! Inc. (“Yahoo”)

On or about September 22, 2016, Yahoo announced that the Personal Information for over 500 million Yahoo users was stolen from its systems in late 2014 by what it believes is a state-sponsored actor.  Yahoo is a leading global Internet communications, commerce and media company that offers a comprehensive branded network of services.

Kessler Topaz Meltzer & Check, LLP is investigating potential claims on behalf of individuals who may have been subject to the recent attack.  Specifically, Kessler Topaz Meltzer & Check, LLP is investigating whether Yahoo was negligent, and whether that negligence led to the data breach that compromised the personal information of Yahoo account holders.

On September 22, 2016, Yahoo sent an email to certain account holders advising them that their information had been compromised.  The subject line of the email notification stated:

“Important Message Regarding Your Account Security”
